Laboratories need to be properly equipped with systems designed for the type of environment they
work in. Technicians need to be able to get access to display systems quickly and easily
especially if they need to monitor images on large screens.
Systems include:
.
|
|
Flat and unobtrusive, large format plasma / LCD (up to 60" or more offer)
outstanding image quality and aesthetics without the issues of projector
light-path, noise and brightness levels at reasonable pricing levels.
Contrast levels are exceptional and they have lower cost of ownership
allowing longer periods switched on in a room.
- Offers the user all the functionality of an interactive
whiteboard for meetings etc
- Can be networked to interact with other external systems
to allow for real time conferencing between sites
.
|
You will still need to consider
* Full Installation- the plasma can be floor
(stand), wall or ceiling mounted and
connected to a Connection Plate where the
required computer, DVD, VCR or TV Tuner
is connected.
|
|
|
The advances in technology make the Interactive Touch LCD screen an
excellent option to a whiteboard. Flat, unobtrusive and with outstanding
clarity, a smaller screen can often equate to a larger interactive board.
Users can operate the computer from touching the screen and have the
same functionality (same software) as an interactive board.
There are also all-in-one systems with an integrated PC to further
minimise the amount of equipment / cabling found in any classroom.
These systems can be rolling stand mounted to offer greater flexibility of
use between room locations.
.
|
.
* Full Installation- best option for stability although
boards can be stand mounted / should include
cabling for VCR / DVD and speakers
|
|
|
Powerful overhead visualiser connected to LCD or plasma screen.
Powerful lens can zoom into tablet bottles on tables and allows for
minute observation of procedures, operations, drawings and
components that may be otherwise difficult to see, observe or handle.

IP based video conferencing system have virtually nil cost of ownership
and with excellent communication capability including computer
presentations and external cameras.
No longer the highly expensive systems they were, these are now a
superb enhancement to any company improving communications whilst
reducing costs.

|
For rooms with specific or classified facilities, ensuring the right room is
booked is important as is showing if the room is in use or not to avoid
accidental intrusions.
Systems such as the RoomWizard are able to provide an excellent
solution
|
|
|
PERIPHERALS &ACCESSORIES
|
|
|
These offer the user greater flexibility and freedom of movement within a
room, allowing them to operate their PC / interactive software from any
location.
By giving the tablet to any member to operate, can also help to minimise
movement within some meeting rooms.

|
Some brands offer their own versions complete
with their own software (Promethean, SMART,
Sahara, GCTO). There are however 'neutral'
systems that will work with any computer and any
loaded software.
|
|
|
Wide variation of available systems, brands and models.
Should be a feature of any meeting room with a projector or screen.
.
|
All rooms with installed projection systems should
have the capability to project VCR / DVD images
and films through the projector onto a big screen.
|
|
|
Excellent addition to any meeting room.
Offering greater flexibility than a document camera, a Visualiser will have
better optics, illumination and extra functionality allowing the tutor project
small object detail, images, 3D objects, documents, transparencies and
pictures onto a big screen.
Options also include ceiling mounted visualisers with high gain, powerful
lenses. .
|
Normally connected to the computer and operated
by it, some systems will allow for the images to be
captured into the computer where they can be
saved / annotated on etc.
Some interactive boards have as part of their
software the ability to capture images from
document cameras directly into their notebook
features.

These are useful where the controlling computers for the various IWB
systems may not be close by.
|
The remote keyboards and mice offer the user
greater flexibility and mobility in their room set-ups
and moving amongst their class.
|
|
|
If you have a number of visitors or different users within a room, keeping
an eye on remote controls or understanding what operates what can be
fraught with problems and losses.
Simple remote control systems can be included in any install offering
simple to understand one touch operation for a number of facilities
including AV equipment, screens, blinds and lighting.
