Some schools have considered having an interactive whiteboard within the staff room to allow
teachers to practice on the software or prepare their lessons away from the classroom, or for use
during staff meetings.
We would not recommend this method for the following reasons:
* The IWB and projector requires greater space than that normally found in a staff room (i.e.
focal length from projector to IWB)
* The movement within a small staff room would mean staff moving in-between the board
and projector - disrupting use and
with the consequences of accidentally looking into the lights
* The projector would require switching on and off quickly and with so many users could be
being unwittingly damaged.
Our recommendation for staff rooms are as follows:
|
|
These are flat, unobtrusive, do not have the issues of walking infront of a
projector with the resulting and shadowing, and have a smaller cost of
ownership than a projector (i.e. can be left on throughout the day) and have
excellent functionality:
* With a Touch Screen Overlay -
- Offers the users all the functionality of an interactive
whiteboard for meetings, practice, lesson planning etc
* Offers an alternative use(TV or video) for staff 'down / relax' periods
.
|
You will still need to consider
* Full Installation - the plasma can be floor (stand),
wall or ceiling mounted and connected to a
Connection Plate where the required computer,
DVD, VCR or TV Tuner is connected.

For larger staff rooms with many teachers, often taking breaks at different
times, LCD or Plasma digital signage screens, LED Display / Message board are
an excellent method to ensure messages are displayed and seen by all
members.
Information can be quickly changed without effort to ensure timely display.

You will need to consider network access and
cabling for networked digital signage systems
